Procedure to convert 3100/3400 for RWD use:

Upper & lower intakes must be rotated to face towards front of engine (Use Felpro problem solver gaskets)

Switch timing chain cover

Cut mounting lugs from bottom front of oil pan as needed to clear front crossmember

** Beware of 3400 engines from an Equinox.**

Upper intake manifold is not useable and must be changed.

The newest Equinox 3400 engines (built in China) require changing the upper intake manifold, changing to a cable driven throttle body, adding an external crank trigger, switching to an earlier model ICM/coil packs and plugging the cam sensor hole. All these changes bring the cost of the conversion to the same price or more than a 3500 (LX9 non VVT) engine.
